When talking about the blog last week, we came up with the idea of writing every week about a foodie gem that we’ve bought in E17. I was brought up eating game. My very first post about a ‘product of the week’ has to be Bishop’s Cold Smoked Sausage from Venison. I was so excited to spot this salami in our in our local Lithuanian shop, Lituanica. It cost about £3.50. They also have a wild boar sausage.
We had it first on Sunday evening as a charcuterie board with gherkins bought from the International Supermarket. I like this salami because it is very meaty and slightly spicy as it has whole black peppercorns in it. Went great with a glass of red wine.
I then cooked the remaining half and created a white bean, courgette and venison stew. This was cooled, jarred and popped in the fridge for a speedy, ready-made Monday night dinner.
