There is a lot of noise about this place and we can see why. You won’t stumble upon it as pearls are always hard to find so you need to plan ahead, it is hidden behind factory buildings near Hackney Wick station.
It is one large room with an open kitchen and there are chairs on the street although not one brave soul would dare to sip coffee outside given our recent wintery weather. We’ve been twice in the past couple of weeks – the food is so good.

The Hackney Pearl is much more than a cafe or a bar. The limited but seasonal menu has fresh fish, steak and plenty of veggie options . It is a good place for coffee and homemade cakes as well as cocktails, wines and Meantime beers.
The service is really friendly but can be a bit slow, though I guess that’s preferable to London’s turning tables craze.
Opening hours: Monday – Friday : 8am until 11pm, Saturday – Sunday: 10am until 11pm.
