OrganicLea market stall, outside Hornbeam cafe, 458 Hoe Street, E17 9AH (corner of Bakers Avenue, near Bakers Arms junction) on Saturdays 10am-3pm. Sells seasonal fruit and vegetables grown by a OrganicLea Community Growers, a co-operative in Chingford, surplus produce from local allotment and garden growers, local freshly made breads, jams, Walthamstow honey and chutney and local cider vinegar. There’s another market stall in Leytonstone – Saturday 10.30am-3pm on the High Road between Matalan & St.Johns Church, E11 1HH. They also run a fantastic midweek organic veg/fruit box delivery scheme that’s well worth joining.

International Supermarket, 15-17, High Street, Walthamstow, E17 7AB. Good Turkish supermarket, vegetables and herbs at reasonable prices. Open everyday (also in South Woodford).

Veg Hut 2B Chingford Road, near The Bell pub. Independent, local fruit & veg shop. Also sell organic meat, eggs, dairy, vegan range, bread, herbs and spices and specialist diet products such as gluten free flour and spelt pasta. Also a handy pick-up point for the OrganicLea veg/fruit box scheme.

Second Nature Wholefoods, 78 Wood Street, Walthamstow, E17 3HT. Reliable, independent organic and health food shop in a listed historic building – an old wooden-clad butchers shop.
